Who is Lopa Speech Pathology?

My name is Gabrielle Lopa and I am a certified practicing speech pathologist, a member of Speech Pathology Australia and a professional musician. I offer a personalised and flexible mobile therapy service with an aim to make a positive differences in peoples lives.. I am fiercely passionate about delivering services that are neurodiverse-affirming, strengths based, trauma informed and centred around the person, the family and their community. I have lived and worked within diverse communities regarding identity, gender, socio-economic status, cultural and linguistic background, disability and neurodiversity, largely due to my continuing work as a professional musician and community worker, but also due to lived experience regarding my own (and family members) neurodivergence. I feel grateful to be able to share my own stories of working through big trauma, and navigating life as a neurodiverse person and be able to sensitively draw on these experiences (if beneficial). I work alongside adults and children of all ages, and have a passion for the voice.

Before I became a speech pathologist, I had a career spanning over 20 years in the arts & entertainment industry as a classical singer for SA Opera and children's entertainer for Ticklish Allsorts. I continue to work as a musician, educator, vocal coach, performer, and backup singer for my husband Manadi Lopa, supporting his beautiful original music (you can check it out on Spotify) as well as regular appearances with The Borderers. I consider myself a very intuitive, passionate and inspiring vocal coach, who offers more than just a singing session to aspiring singers and performers.

My training as a musician and an actor, allowed me to spend some of my most enjoyable and rewarding years working for the incredible TUTTI Arts organisation (a multi-arts hub for artists with a disability). My role was Coordinator and music tutor for Tutti Youth Kids (TKY) and vocal coach for Tutti’s performing artists. I  was also privileged to deliver workshops on vocal health and technique to many TUTTI artists. Previously I have provided vocal coaching for actors and singers at Splash Theatre Company, ACARTS, Pelican Productions and community choir Allegria. You may have also spotted me running African drumming workshops in various school across Adelaide.

Before creating Lopa Speech Pathology I gained experience working in regional SA with The Benevolent Society and more locally with Good Prospects and KUDOS services delivering speech and language services to the community. I love regional work and hope to spend more time delivering services to communities that are in desperate need of services. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of friendly and passionate teams, and now as a business owner I am thrilled to continue collaborating with a tribe of allied health professionals including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, positive behaviour support practitioners, trauma specialists, developmental educators, DCP workers, support coordinators and specialists.

My life is full and at times very stressful, however I wouldn't have it any other way. I am committed to improving what I can offer you, my clients, and I am grateful to have a supportive family around me who understand my passion for serving people.
